Global Configuration

The Usine global settings can be changed here, your favorites folders for Plug-ins, Sounds and MIDI files and for the Direct to Disk Panel recordings.

Import old settings

Click the button import settings and select the folder of your previous version of Usine to import global settings. Requires a restart of Usine to apply the change.

Main language

Sets the language Usine is displayed in. Usine can display either English or French.

Layout style

  • Color Style: Choose your favorite color set for Usine. Options are the current or the previous darker layout. Requires a restart of Usine to apply the change.
  • Use floating windows: Switch the interface into multi-window mode. Places the Patch Editor as well as the settings bar into floating mode. Requires a restart of Usine to apply the change.

Help

  • use on line manual: Gives the choice to provide help by the online manual, or a local copy of the help manual if this option is disabled.
  • show hints: Displays the hint (quick help) panel at the bottom left of the main window if enabled.

Personal folders

  • patch library: Specifies the patch and The Workspace library browser default path.
  • sounds files: Specifies your Sound browser default path.
  • alternate drives: Alternative drive used if files aren’t found on their original drive. For example, all your files are on D: and for any reason, it has crashed and all you’re data is lost. Fortunately, you have another backup copy drive called G:. So if you tell Usine that your “alternate drive” is G: you’ll be able to reload all your workspaces normally without changing file locations. It’s the ultimate rescue solution.
  • MIDI files: Specifies your MIDI files browser default path.
  • Fixtures files: Specifies your spots files browser default path.
  • Video files: Specifies your Video files browser default path.
  • record out: Specifies the default recorded waves path.

External editors

  • wave editor: Specifies your favorite wave editor path.The option to open this editor is located in the bottom left of a samplers List Manager.

Startup

  • fullscreen: If enabled, defaults to fullscreen when Usine starts.
  • load wkp: Click to load automatically a workspace at startup.

Touch screen

  • enable touch screen: Enable/Disable the touch screen feature.
  • trace gesture: Activates the trace of recognized gestures in the trace panel.
  • global zoom scale: Allows the adjustment of zoom for the entire Usine interface. Useful for adjusting the interface on tablets.
  • use virtual keyboard: Displays the virtual keyboard when text entry is needed. Useful when utilized for tablets.

Performances

  • enable hardware acceleration: Option to enable/disable the DirectX hardware acceleration (WIN only).
  • enable mouse animation:: Option to disable mouse over animations to increase the graphic performance.
  • enable remote hilite: Draw a small blue icon when a control is modified by a remote, network, or record.
  • Refresh speed: Sets the global Usine refresh speed. For low value (5 ms) Usine is very reactive and the graphic display looks smooth but cost a lot of CPU. 25 ms is a good value in most situations.
  • max number of threads: Choose the best multi-core optimization for your system.
  • Disk Buffer size: Disk Buffer Size of the reading audio file buffer. A good value is around 1000ms. Increase if you use large multi-channels files.
  • CPU load max: Sets the CPU protection level. If the CPU Load is greater than the CPU maximum level, the audio engine stops for few seconds, to avoid hard crash of your system. Generally 90% is a good value for a single core processor. If you don’t want use this protection set the value to 100%.
